17 July 2014: Malaysia Airlines Flight 17, a Boeing 777 flying from Amsterdam, The Netherlands to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, was shot down by Russian-controlled terrorists operating in Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine, using a Buk surface-to-air missile that came from Russia & the launcher of which returned to Russia; two hundred ninety-eight souls were lost; three Russian agents were convicted in absentia.
