Operation AXIOM: The Space Age—The 50th Anniversary of Soyuz 22
15-23 September 1976: Soyuz 22 lifted off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome, carrying CDR Valery Bykovsky & F.E. Vladimir Aksyonov aboard a Soyuz 7K-T capsule atop a Soyuz-U rocket; call sign Yastreb ("Hawk"); Soyuz 22 was equipped with an East German MKF-6 multispectral camera, which took 2,400 photographs of the Earth & the Moon; after 127 orbits, they landed in the Kazakh S.S.R.

Commentary: The Soyuz 22 spacecraft was a back left over from the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project.
