Project BLACK MAMBA

Today we remember Blessed Pope Pius IX (1792-1878), the "Prisoner of the Vatican:" Blessed-link & Wikipedia-link.

Scripture of the Day
Personal Reading
The Letter to Titus, chapter one (of three).

Mass Readings
The Letter to the Hebrews, chapter thirteen, verses fifteen thru seventeen, twenty & twenty-one;
Psalm Twenty-three, verses one thru six;
The Gospel according to Mark, chapter six, verses thirty thru thirty-four.

Commentary: At Mass this morning, Father Linden described today's Gospel reading, specifically verse thirty-four, as "the passage of the diocesan priest":
When he disembarked & saw the vast crowd, his heart was moved with pity for them, for they were like sheep without a shepherd; & he began to teach them many things.
The Rebel Black Dot Song of the Day
Barenaked Ladies, "For You" from Everything to Everyone (T.L.A.M.)

Commentary:

"And for every useless reason I know,
There's a reason not to care.
If I hide myself wherever I go,
Am I ever really there?…"

Beginning tomorrow: "Prepare—prepare to feel the wrath of the League of Evil Exes." O.K., not so much the League of Evil Exes & not all that much wrath, per se, but prepare—prepare to feel the bitterness of the bitterest week in the R.B.D.S.O.T.D.'s whole year.
