Operation AXIOM: The Space Age—The 40th Anniversary of S.T.S.-51-B, Part II
30 April-6 May 1985: Spacelab 3—The crew split to conduct science twenty-four hours/day (Gold Team: Overmyer, Lind, Thornton, & Wang; Silver Team: Gregory, Thagard, & van den Berg); Wang's experiment failed to operate initially & he made troubling remarks about "I'm not going back," but he was eventually able to effect repairs; after 111 orbits, the Challenger landed at California's Edwards.Commentary: Duct tape was placed on the Challenger's hatch during S.T.S.-51-B; on later missions, the Commander was able to padlock the hatch to prevent accidental opening while on orbit.
S.T.S.-51-B was also the first flight to launch a small satellite from a Getaway Special canister.

Bonus! Song o' Election Day!
The Aquabats!, "After-school Job Infomercial!" from Finally! (Captain Thumbs Up!)
Commentary: There is a special election today in Grand Blanc Township; so, I will spend the whole day at East Middle School, the polling place for Precincts Three & Four. There is only one item on today's ballot, the renewal of a "sinking fund" for the Grand Blanc Community Schools (which serve both the Township & the City of Grand Blanc).
This will be my first election as the Chairman of Precinct Four. Previously, I worked several elections as the Vice Chairman. This is a pretty ideal election for my first time in the top job: low turnout & an incredibly simple ballot.

"Don't you remember feeling desperate?
Don't you remember like I remember?
I told the story about when we were young,
When we were fearless,
What a bunch of idiots, now!
"That we're so much older now,
That we're so much safer now,
That we're so much smaller, man!
"We were idiots, and now,
We can just stop reaching out
To anyone or anything,
We can quit on all our dreams,
And give up on everything.

And we're so much safer now,
And we're so much smaller, man!…"

Bonus! Song o' the Day: Cinco de Mayo
Less Than Jake, "Richard Allen George… No, It's Just Cheez" from Hello Rockview (Rude Boy Miguel Papa Whiskey)
Skammentary: Cinco de Mayo is not Mexico's independance day, that's celebrated on 16 September. Cinco de Mayo is more of an American holiday than a Mexican holiday. ¡Happy Cinco de Mayo!
The kids that are hip, they grow hair on their lip,
They throw down their razors and don't give a shit,
Then grow and grow and grow,
So let your moustache go!
Oh yeah!"

John Williams, et al., "Anakin vs. Obi-Wan" from Star Wars: Episode III—Revenge of the Sith: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Mike Papa Whiskey)
Commentary: I have not seen the twentieth anniversary re-release of Revenge of the Sith both because I already saw the film nineteen times at the cinema in the summer of 2005, but most especially because I don't want to put more money in Disney's coffers, not after their decade-long deconstruction of Star Wars & their open contempt for & gaslighting of Star Wars fans.

Skammentary: The Pietasters were the most unlikely SKAll-stars of SKApril's first half decade.
