Commentary: Quoth the bulletin:
His zeal extended over the entire world, he was in contact with all the Churches of Christendom, & in spite of his bodily sufferings, & innumerable labors, he found time to compose a great number of works. He is known above all for his magnificent contributions to the Liturgy of the Mass & Office. He is one of the four great Doctors of the Latin Church. He died March 12, 604. He is the patron of teachers. The other three "great Doctors of the Latin Church" are St. Ambrose of Milan (7 December), St. Augustine of Hippo (28 August), & St. Jerome (30 September). St. Gregory is also the patron of students, musicians/singers/choir boys, the papacy, stonecutters, England, the West Indies, & numerous localities, & against gout & plague.
