'Tis the feast of Saint Magnus Erlendsson, Martyr (circa 1075-1115, A.K.A. of Orkney), martyred by his cousin, the earl Haakon Paulsson: Martyr-link & Wikipedia-link
'Tis also the feast of Saint Drogo, Hermit (circa 1105-1186, A.K.A. Dreux): Saint-link & Wikipedia-link.
Commentary: Wayback Machine. St. Drogo was afflicted with an "unsightly bodily affliction" whilst on pilgrimage, thus driving him into hermitage. He is thus the patron saint of "unattractive persons," or put less euphemistically, "those whom others find repulsive." Chiefly for this reason, for a series of stories set around a fictional parish that I am developing with Brother Envy (A.K.A. November Victor) & Mrs. Brother Envy, we have chosen the name Saint Drogo's.
'Tis also the feast of Saint Bernadette of Lourdes (1844-1879, A.K.A. Bernadette Soubirous), to whom was revealed the apparitions of Our Lady of Lourdes: Saint-link ūna, Saint-link duae, & Wikipedia-link; Wikipedia-link Our Lady.
