The Rebel Black Dot Song of the Day: SKApril!

The Specials, "Doesn't Make It Alright" from The Specials (The Last Angry Man)

Skammentary: Ska isn't folk music, but it does have much more of a social conscience than most rock & roll. Without having taken a precise tally, I am comfortable asserting that The Mighty Mighty Bosstones have more songs about street violence & social justice than about romance, Less Than Jake more songs about economic hardship than about chasing girls. In today's R.B.D.S.O.T.D., The Specials plead earnestly for tolerance & non-violence.
"Just because you're nobody
It doesn't mean that you're no good,
Just because there's a reason,
It doesn't mean its understood.

"It doesn't make it alright,
It doesn't make it alright,
It's the worst excuse in the world,
And it, it doesn't make it alright.

"Some people think they're really clever,
Smash your head against a wall,
Then they say, 'You got in my way,'
They really think they know it all.

"It doesn't make it alright,
It doesn't make it alright,
It's the worst excuse in the world,
And it, it doesn't make it alright.

"Just because you're a black boy,
Just because you're a white,
It doesn't mean you've got to hate him,
Doesn't mean you've got to fight.

"It doesn't make it alright,
It doesn't make it alright,
It's the worst excuse in the world,
And it, it doesn't make it alright.

"Just because you're nobody."
