The Rebel Black Dot Song o' the Day: SKApril X

Mu330, "Rocket Fuel" from Mu330 (Rude Boy Mike Papa Whiskey)

Skammentary: I'm not a ska dad, but I have ongoing ambitions of being a ska uncle to my nieces & nephews. It's been almost twenty-three years since the Summer of Ska, the summer of 1997, & many of those turn-of-the-millennium rude boys & rude girls have gone on to be dads & moms. I saw parents with children at both shows I attended in the late summer/early fall of 2019, The Aquabats! & The Mighty Mighty Bosstones. Ska itself originated sixty years ago, in late 1950s/early '60s Jamaica; so, it's already a multi-generational phenomena.
"It's not so easy getting up so early every day,
So much responsibility,
In the morning when my eyes are falling out my head,
I look at him and he starts my engines!

"That kid is rocket fuel (please please),
That kid is rocket fuel (go to sleep),
That kid is rocket fuel (please please),
That kid, he's rocket fuel!

"When I fall asleep that's his cue to start screaming,
Wanna pull my hair out,
He said "da da" yesterday, make it all worth it,
I looked at him and couldn't help but grin.

"That kid is rocket fuel (please please),
That kid is rocket fuel (go to sleep),
That kid is rocket fuel (please please),
That kid, he's rocket fuel!…"
