The Rebel Black Dot Song o' the Day: SKAugust

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, "Wonderful Day for the Race" from White We're at It (The Last Angry Rude Boy)

Skammentary: I was struck this week by a partial parallel between The Mighty Mighty Bosstones & the Book of Sirach. The Bosstones:
"What a wonderful day for the race!
Everywhere it's taking place,
I swear you'll hear one wasn't run,
But I'm talking 'bout the human one!
What a wonderful day for the race!
Every smile on every face,
Every day until it's done,
I'm talking 'bout the human one…"
Sirach (10:19):
What race is worthy of honor? The human race.
What race is worthy of honor? Those who fear the Lord.
What race is unworthy of honor? The human race.
What race is unworthy of honor? Those who transgress the commandments.
